Still Sick

Every year, about this time-I get sick.

And every year, at about this time-I pray it’s just a cold.

See, whatever is going on with me, I end up with this lingering cough. And not just a little tickle, but full on coughing fits that make it hard to talk and end up making me feel like I was punched in the stomach.  And yet, i always put off going to the doctor.  I wait so long that it takes Roy actually fussing at me to please go.  I know the constant coughing drives him crazy.  So, today I sucked it up and went.  And once again, it was painless, and quick and easy.  But I’m sure next year, I will wait another three weeks and put myself and everyone around me through the headache of me coughing and wheezing.

BUT-I do have some exciting news!!!

After a week of VERY hot tent camping in Disneyworld, Roy and I decided to really think about buying a travel trailer. We did our research, or rather Roy did I just wanted something that felt right.  (Hey, I go with my gut!) We looked around, talked to salesman (ugh!) and eventually decided to make a day of it and head to the HUGE RV show in Hershey, PA.  We brought our checkbook.

It was overwhelming!

But I think we went in there thinking IF we find a deal, we’re gonna go for it.

And we found a deal, and we went for it.

See originally, we thought about a pop up.  After seeing a few, it bloomed into something a bit bigger with no slides, and then I saw her: The Keystone Hideout 27DBS.  We’d seen a few others with this layout (cause let’s get real, there are only so many layouts for a trailer!), but for whatever reason this one just felt like home.  I stood in there, and could immediately picture all the fun our family could have.  Late nights around a camp fire, maybe some card games at the table-me cooking in the little kitchen, while the kids napped in their bunks. And yet our local RV dealership, didn’t seem to want to make a sale.  We offered a VERY good price, especially since it was an older model, but no luck.  IN fact, we found them a bit rude and really not wanting to help.  So, that’s when we decided to head to Hershey.

And there we found her.

I love her!

Dean was thrilled, if only because I think he was tired of looking.  I know Roy would have been happy in the smaller model, but I think he sensed I wanted a bit more room, so we went with this upgrade.

We picked her up on Friday, and drove her to the campground we had reserved a spot in.  To be honest, Roy is awesome!  It’s so big and heavy, but he drove the truck (I know he was worried about his girl-by girl, I mean his truck-pulling this thing!) like he’d been doing it forever.  And he didn’t seem to have any issues backing it into our site.

And it was AMAZING!  I love tent camping, a fact which still surprises me, and Roy too I think.  I like my comforts, but there’s something about camping, that just makes me happy.  Maybe it’s because I know Roy and the boys like it so much, but whatever it is-I just love it.  But the trailer, is just that much more.  It was awesome to cook breakfast in my tiny kitchen-the cinnamon rolls filled the trailer with their warm smell, and the eggs just seemed to taste a little bit yummier-even though I forgot the salt and pepper.

We sat around our little U-shaped dinette (I had told Roy I liked that set up better, so he made sure to find me one with it in there!) and laughed, and talked about what we did that day, and what we could do later.  We made s'mores around the campfire, and I even liked learning how to dump the tanks (grey water, and the yucky black water).

Today is my wonderful husband’s birthday, and when I asked him what he wanted last week-he said he just wanted to pick up our trailer and have a nice weekend.  And yet, I know he bought this bigger one because he wanted to make me happy.  And see, that’s just the kind of guy I married-the best birthday present for him is making his wife and kids happy.

Happy Birthday, My love!  Thank you for letting us celebrate with you.
