Settling In

Ok, first, I just had to look up Settling to make sure I spelled that right!  Sheesh…and yes, I’ve had my morning cup of coffee.

The past few months have been HECTIC-but in a good way, as it feels like we are getting a lot of stuff done.

-In October of last year, my parents very generously gave us an amazing Christmas gift.  They bought us porcelain tile for our first floor.  We did pick it out, but they paid for it.  The ENTIRE first floor!  The formal dining room, the library (I call it the boys game room!), the family room and Roy’s office is a dark tile that looks like wood plank.  The kitchen, Laundry room and foyer is this gorgeous stone.  The floors look amazing.  We smile when we walk into the house, and in fact it looks like a completely different house.  It took some time, but our new floors are finally in.

-In August, we headed down to Orlando for a week at Disney. (I did a pretty lengthy review here on my blog.) And it was amazing!  So many memories, and so much fun!  It’s always so cool to see thinks like that through the kids’ eyes.  Roy and I have done Disney a few times, but this was a first for Hayden and Dean.  It was hot-almost too hot some days-and because our A/C crapped out on us, we came home and started seriously talking about…

-Getting a Travel Trailer!  We love to camp-even me-but a little comfort isn’t a bad thing.  So, Roy started researching them and we’ve narrowed it down.  I’m already thinking about the amazing trips we can take with the boys-getting away for the weekend for some time off, Disney, Universal Studios, maybe traveling out West to see the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore-And making some more memories with our boys.

-And then School-though, school is the most important thing on this list-it feels good to finally feel like we are settling into a routine.  I get the younger boys up, get them on the bus, and then I get Addi up for his day of virtual school. The kids are getting used to ‘the grind,’ and we look forward to weekends of sleeping in, and playing outside now that the weather is starting to cool down a bit. Those first few weeks of back to school are always hectic. The summer heat is still around, and the kids remember their days of sleeping in and playing too fondly.

-And then there’s me! I worked for about six months, and I loved it. When the shop closed down I was sad-I would miss my time there, but I’ve gotten used to once again being a Stay at Home Mom.  In fact, now that Addi’s doing the Virtual high school, being here isn’t such a bad thing-as it allows me time to help him and basically make sure he’s doing what he’s supposed to do. Organization has always been a challenge for him, but having me here to keep him on track seems to have allowed him to settle in very quickly, and maybe even look forward to school a bit!

Maybe it’s the change in season, I love summer vacation, but I hate the heat.  The cooler weather, having a routine, and feeling like things are being accomplished feels good.  It feels right.

So, here’s looking forward to a great fall!
